Affordable and Elevated Faux Leather Outfits

Are you looking for a casual outfit that feels elevated and still gives lots of style? Then let me share with you seven different ways to style faux leather pieces and bring an upgraded look to your simple Fall and Winter outfits all while using faux leather.

*Disclaimer: Some of my clothes are thrifted. I’ve listed dupes (or similar items) for the thrifted items to help you find a clothing piece with a similar look. I’ve labeled these items “similar to pictured”. I have not tried duped (similar) items. Please do your research on item before purchasing.

Outfit 1:

I’m a lover of faux leather leggings and Walmart has amazing leggings for a great price. These brown leggings are my new favorite for the fall and winter season. The color of these leggings are giving me major 90s vibes—and I live for those type of vibes. Another reason I love faux leather leggings is because of their versatility. You can create dressy or casual outfits with these simple leggings. For this outfit, I choose to go with an elevated in between look—slightly casual but also dressy enough for dinner or date night.

I love keeping within the brown tone palette with this camel colored knit turtleneck sweater. The camel color of the sweater against the deep brown of the leggings is so lovely and shouts autumn. Faux leather leggings are the easiest way to add the look of leather, without the discomfort of wearing leather pants.

A-line faux leather skirts are such an understated way to add dimension and texture to an outfit without having to do much work at all. I paired my black leather skirt with a cream colored fitted top. If you’re an apple shape like me, then playing with your proportions here is key. I keep it a little more fitted at the top, flared at the bottom, and use a belt to redefine my waist. I love the mix of the leather with its edgy feel against the softer knit sweater. Keeping with the edgy softness of the outfit, I added a heeled combat boot for height and texture.

Faux Leather Pants aren’t for everyone. However, styling faux leather pants with a wider leg is going to give you such a distinct look that you just don’t get with faux leather leggings. This pair of faux leather pants are more of a cropped straight cut, which adds a polished look to you outfit. For this outfit, I kept it simple and paired the cropped faux leather pants with a plain white t-shirt and thrifted black blazer. The mix of textures playing together in this simple but very sophisticated outfit gives the look such an elevated feel. These cropped straight legged leather pants are a splendid piece to add to your wardrobe.

Outfit 4:

The faux leather leggings are back on the list, but this time in black. Black faux leather leggings are my go-to piece during the fall and winter. You can certainly dress these leggings up just like the brown pair from earlier. I prefer to style these leggings in cute casual looks.

I paired my faux leather leggings with a gray sweatshirt and an oversized jean jacket. To complete the look, I went with a comfortable pair of sneakers. This is the beauty of faux leather leggings. They have a way of making a simple outfit look so chic and put together.

Outfit 5:

You can’t have a faux leather list without mentioning a faux leather jacket. I choose this jacket because it’s more paired down than my other leather jackets. I love to keep it simple and let the jacket shine. To achieve this, I went with a white v-neck t-shirt with a front tuck. I finished the look with distressed jeans and boots. Adding a faux leather jacket to a simple jeans and t-shirt outfit or to a dress is my favorite way to add texture and dimension to my basic pieces.

Outfit 6:

This bodycon skirt is perfect if you want to add a little sexy edginess to your look. Much like the other pieces on this list, it can be dressed up with a nice top and heels. Here, I’m going to show you a casual way to style it.

I started with a graphic t-shirt. I love this one because it matches the color of the skirt. With a pair of boots, you can stop right there and have a cute look, but I went further and added an oversized cardigan. I added the cardigan for two reasons. First, to give some subtle color to the very neutral toned outfit. The second reason is that a third piece is a great way to take attention off the belly if you’re apple shape and don’t like form fitting clothes. With this option you can wear more form fitting pieces, but also feel comfortable because the spotlight isn’t on your middle section.
