Things I love to wear in | Capsule Wardrobe Pieces

Spring is here. This means that it’s time to put away our winter wardrobe pieces and start transitioning into our warm weather clothes. I love spring because it’s cool enough to continue wearing the clothes I love, like cardigans and white button downs, but warm enough to introduce sandals and sundresses into your outfit creation. There are so many fun pieces to add to your spring closet, and I’m going to share some of my favorites. So, if you want to know what pieces to add to your spring capsule wardrobe, let’s get into it.

White t-shirt

Let’s start this list off with the item that is a constant staple all season long—the white t-shirt. There is nothing like a crisp white t-shirt during the spring and summer months. I love pairing white t-shirts with jeans, trousers, skirts—there is so much you can do with a white t-shirt. This one is from Amazon, but you can also find some amazing simple white t-shirts at Target and Old Navy. Make sure you have a white t-shirt in your spring wardrobe.

SHOP T-SHIRT

Striped T-shirt

The next item is a striped t-shirt. I love having a simple striped t-shirt in my spring wardrobe. It pairs well with solid colored pieces. It’s perfect for a simple outfit styled with jeans and a nice pair of flats. You can find a lot of adorable uses for a striped shirt in your closet.

White High Neck Tank top

Much like that white t-shirt, I also recommend having a white tank. I love the high neck tank tops because they just seem like a more elevated version of a tank top. They pair well on their own with trousers, jeans, skirts, and shorts. They are also perfect for layering with cardigans and blazers. This one is from Target’s A New Day Line, and I highly recommend. I have it in white and black, and I love both of them.

SHOP TANK TOP

Mock Neck tanks

Mock neck tanks are something I love to wear more during the spring than I do during the fall and winter months. The mock neck tank is a perfect transitional piece. You can pair it with blazers, jackets, and sweaters to give that turtleneck look. Or you can wear it on its own with skirts or jeans for a more casual look. My favorite way to pair this type of top is with jeans. I think it makes such a sophisticated but casual look. I’m looking forward to using my white and tan mock necks for lots of springtime outfit combinations.

SHOP MOCK NECK

White button down

Another all season staple on this list is the white button down. During the Spring and summer months, I usually go for lightweight ones that keep me cool. The white button down is a classic piece and works in so many ways throughout your wardrobe.

SHOP WHITE BUTTON DOWN

Striped button down

The striped button down is a recent addition to my wardrobe, but I’m excited to style it. Much like the white button-down shirt, you can use a striped button down in so many places within your wardrobe. I plan to pair my shirt with jeans and trousers, and then using it during the summer with shorts. The striped button down is definitely worth adding to your wardrobe.

Chambray Denim Shirt

A chambray or denim shirt is another piece that I love during the hotter months. I can pair a lightweight version of this shirt with chinos, put it over sundresses and skirt, and even pair with jeans for a cute denim on denim moment. You can find a lot of adorable outfits using this simple shirt. Definitely worth adding to the wardrobe this spring.

Neutral Blouses

It’s always good to have a neutral blouse in your spring wardrobe. During the spring, I lean more toward tan and cream-colored blouses. I feel they work so well during spring. One top I’m using this season is this thrifted sheer blouse. It’s keeping with the neutral tone of the season and also playing with the sheer trend that is popular this season. The type of neutral blouse is up to you. Pick something that makes you feel wonderful and works within your wardrobe.

Blazer

A colored blazer is perfect for the spring. I plan on using this blazer that’s in a deep coral type color. I feel it will go great with neutral tone outfits and add just a splash of color without going overboard. I’m not opposed to pastels during the spring, but they can get a little predictable and boring. Adding in just a little of a spring type color gives you a feel for the season, but keeps it stylish and interesting. If you’re not into colorful blazers, a tan or white blazer will work perfectly for the spring.

Leather Jacket

I have to get as much use out of my leather jackets before the Florida sun requires I put it away. I love adding a leather jacket to spring dresses and skirts to add a little dimension and texture to an outfit. A leather jacket paired with a maxi skirt or a slip dress is such a cute outfit for the spring.

SHOP LEATHER JACKET

Denim Jacket

When I say denim jacket, I mean an oversized denim jacket. I love to creat a monochromatic look and then pop this jacket on. I also love to pair it with short dresses. There is something about an oversized denim jacket and dresses that I really love. So, I recommend you try it out and see how you like it.

SHOP DENIM JACKET

Mid or Light Wash Jeans

Spring is the time that I like to wear a lot of light washed and mid wash jeans. Light wash and mid wash give a more casual feel to your outfit, and I feel that’s what we’re looking for during the Spring. Like I’ve said in other videos, I’m not the cut police. If you want skinny, straight, or flared, it’s your choice. Do what makes you happy.

Cream Chinos

I don’t really like white pants, but white jeans or pants are perfect for fall. If you’re like me and don’t really care for white pants you can opt for cream. I plan on wearing these cream chinos in place of white pants. Whether it’s white or cream, a light colored pant is a great addition to your spring wardrobe.

SHOP TROUSERS

Trousers

I’ve seen so many casual outfits using trousers and I can’t wait to try them out. I’m just adding these wide leg trousers to my spring wardrobe. I plan to pair them with t-shirts and tanks to get that elevated basic/ 90s minimalist look.

Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are great for the spring. There are so many that you can get to add to your collection. I have them in strapless, one with spaghetti straps, and some in bright colors, like pink. I just got this jumpsuit. It has wider legs and looks almost like overalls. A jumpsuit is a perfect piece to have for those easy put something on and go days.

SHOP JUMPSUIT

White dresses

In the past, I would not have been team white dress. I’m the type of woman that spills super easily, so an all white dress was a no. Then I got this linen dress. There is something so whimsical about a white dress during the spring. So, I think you should have at least one casual white dress in your spring wardrobe.

SHOP DRESS

Moody Floral Dress

Although pastel floral dresses are a spring mainstay, they can feel a little overdone. Florals in the spring isn’t very groundbreaking. Comment below if you get that reference. However, if I’m going to wear florals, I usually wear what I call moody florals. Dresses with the signature pastel flowers but are paired against darker colors like black and navy. It’s doesn’t scream typical spring, but you still get the floral effect.

SHOP DRESS

Neutral Dress

Much like the neutral blouse, a neutral dress is another great item to have on hand. They make great layering pieces with the button-down shirts, jackets, and blazers. I love this one from Amazon’s The Drop. It’s a tank dress with a square neckline and it’s in the color praline.

SHOP DRESS

Midi skirt

Another addition to my spring wardrobe is this satin midi skirt. I already had a version of this skirt from my Walmart Fall Haul in a blue and white design. For the spring, I wanted to get a solid color and the tan version of this skirt is perfect. I’m excited to create some casual outfits with it using graphic t-shirts and sneakers, as well as more dressed up outfits with some of my more elaborate tops.

Spring is a time to bring out the soft, sweet, and interesting parts of your wardrobe. It’s a great time to create with basics and add personal flair using interesting florals, colors, and outfit combinations.
