ADD TO CART: 10 things you need to buy from Old Navy

Online shopping is such a hard task when you’re a plus size lady. It’s worse when the company doesn’t provide any pictures of the garments on plus size bodies. Some stores are getting better, but they’re far from perfect.

I’ve started a series on my YouTube channel called Add to Cart. In this series, I go online shopping and show you some of the amazing—and sometimes not so amazing—pieces that I found. I use this as a way to cut out the middleman and show you some things that will look good on your curvy body without the deep searching on a brand’s website.

The first brand on my list is Old Navy. I have quite the history with Old Navy. When I was a lazy dresser, I would buy all of my clothes from Old Navy. It was one of the few stores with clothes that fit my body and looked nice. I branched out to different stores when I renewed my love of getting dressed. I also moved into thrifting more unique items that suited my needs. However, Old Navy never left my closet. Their jeans are still some of my favorites, and it’s one of the few brands that if I find a piece made by them at a thrift store that I don’t have to try it on. Their sizing has always been on point.

Old Navy is the place for your closet basics. If you’re looking for outstanding pieces to rebuild your closet, this is the place to go. Their everyday t-shirts are the goat. I highly recommend. However, it’s their commitment to having extended sizes in store that makes me a fan. The other day my daughter and I went to Old Navy for the first time in a very long time. We tried on the same dress in our respective sizes. Given my daughter is a teenager with a petite, straight sized body, I don’t think we’ve ever been able to do that—at least not in store. It was cool. It was also cool to not be the largest size in the store. With their new Bodequality promise, they have lots of sizes all in the same clothes as the straight sizes. This is all plus size women have been asking for. Everyone should enjoy fashion and the beauty of creating outfits that show off their personality. Everyone should feel seen while shopping in store. So, when I find a size inclusive brand, I have to show love.

Now, everything in Old Navy isn’t perfect. They’re committed to the end of time to putting ruffles on an otherwise perfect dress. The prints on the dresses and shirts could be better, too. The women’s graphic t-shirts compared to men’s are not the best. Plus, they have gone hard on these Little House on the Prairie dresses just like Target. Given they’ve been giving us unneeded ruffles on maxi dresses since before it was cool to give us unneeded ruffles, they might be the leader of the pact for these prairie dresses. Thanks, I hate it. Even with all of that, I still love Old Navy and have put together ten of my favorite things they have in store right now for the midsize, curvy, and plus size body.

Item 1:

Fitted Rib-Knit Midi Cami Shift Dress

This dress is what made me go to Old Navy in person. I saw this dress on Instagram and was shocked that it was being sold by Old Navy. I can confirm that it is a nice dress, but I didn’t get it because they didn’t have the color I wanted. These are the type of dresses I need Old Navy to keep giving the girls.

Item 2 :

Fitted Short-Sleeve Cropped Rib-Knit T-shirt

This type of shirt is perfect for your basic wardrobe building. It comes in an assortment of colors. It’s cute and will pair with other basics or your trendy summer pieces.

Item 3:

High-Waisted Linen-Blend Shorts

If you’re looking for no fuss linen shorts, these are perfect. They come in different colors and look really comfortable.

Item 4:

Fitted Sleeveless Square-Neck Bodysuit

I have this bodysuit in white and it’s fantastic. I’m probably going to get more colors. I love it that much. This is one of those pieces that is perfect on its own or for layering. I can see myself using this bodysuit all year long.

Item 5:

Fitted Halter Rib-Knit Tank Top

I love halter tops are back in style. They have always been my favorite. If you’re looking for a more sophisticated way to join in on the Y2K craze, a halter is the way to go. This no frills halter top comes in different colors and is plus size girl friendly.

Item 6:

Waist-Defined Puff-Sleeve Gingham Mini Wrap Dress

This version of the Prairie dress isn’t too bad. It gives picnic in all the right ways. It’s not too puffy and oversized, so curvy bodies will look good in it. It’s worth a try.

Item 7:

Extra High-Waisted Sky-Hi Ripped Wide-Leg Jeans

Okay, if you bought the halter top, don’t forget to get these wide legged jeans. These are so much better than the kind I had as a teen. I know, wide legged jeans are trendy. I know they won’t be here long, but I’m going to love them while they’re here. You should too.

Item 8:

Printed Ruffle-Trimmed Ruched Bikini Swim Top

I haven’t purchased Old Navy swimwear in a long time, but this set (not really a set, it’s sold separately) is adorable and comes in different colors and prints.

Items 9:

High-Waisted Button-Fly Cut-Off Jean Skirt

This skirt is perfect for summer. The larger sizes are sold out, but I’m hoping for a restock.

Items 10:

Fit & Flare Sleeveless Smocked-Bodice Midi Dress

This is the dress that my daughter and I both tried on. She tried it on in black and mine had a print design. My daughter is a shorty doo wop and this dress almost covered her feet. So, if you’re petite, keep this in mind or break out the heels.

So, those are the things I love at Old Navy. I’ve included links if you would like to purchase some of these items. If there is a store you would like me to do next, leave it in the comments. As always: stay bright, live true, and be vividly you.
