Thrift Haul

Today we’re doing a thrift haul! I love thrifting. It’s one of my favorite ways to clothes shop. I typically will go to thrift stores, consignment shops, and vintage stores before heading to regular stores. This is mostly because it’s so much cheaper to buy secondhand, but also because it’s better for the environment. I feel that it’s a win all around. I think I get my thrifting bug from my grandmother. She loves finding gently used items and giving them new life. My mother teases us both for how excited we get over our thrift store scores and road side treasures. She can say what she wants, thrifting is amazing. Finding unique items and giving old items a refresh will always give me a thrill.

As I grow my wardrobe, I have found that a good portion of my clothing is thrifted items. It’s not always easy to find good stuff as a plus size lady, but that’s why it’s so fun when I find those unique and awesome pieces. Another reason I love thrifting is to find clothing pieces that would have cost a lot of money at a regular store, but I get it for a fraction of the price. Who doesn’t love a deal? If I got anything else from my grandmother, it’s being cheap. I’m not always cheap, but being cheap with some things has served me well in this life. It’s made me be creative and hungry to find a way to get things done. So when I did a closet reset and got rid of almost all my clothes in my closet (I donated them to others) I had to figure out how to not just rebuild, but rebuild smarter. I needed those basic core pieces, and I’ve been able to find some really marvelous clothes just through thrifting. So, to say that I’m a fan of thrifting is a complete understatement.

This thrift haul was really just to find some pieces for an upcoming video. However, I think I will begin sharing my thrift hauls to show that you can find great things at the thrift store. Enjoy the video.

Stay bright, live true, and be vividly you.
